Rum & Nature tour in Leon area

FULLDAY TOUR RUM & NATURE IN LEON AREA
(available on weekend ONLY)

We pick you up at your hotel in Leon, then drive approximately 45 minutes to Chichigalpa, known as the city of rum made from sugar cane grown in the western part of the country.

With this tour, we retrace the history of this product of excellence of Flor de Caña – one of the most awarded rums in the world – from the foundation of the factory to the present day. Five generations of enthusiasts have given shape to this elixir available for all palates, from the youngest to the most aged.

Transfer to Las Peñitas, a fishing village on the Pacific coast where guests will have lunch at a restaurant in front of the beach (lunch on your own).

Boat tour at Juan Venado nature reserve, sailing along the strait between the coast and the opposite island, where the mangrove forest is home to crocodiles and crabs. We dock on the island whose vegetation is the habitat of dozens of bird species. With a short walk, we reach the opposite side of the island, bathed by the Ocean, to enjoy the immense sandy beach where the Paslama turtles arrive between August and December to lay their eggs.

So, depending on the season there is the opportunity to visit the nursery of the baby turtles that hatch day in and day out and are set free to the ocean.

Return to Las Peñitas by boat where our transportation service waits for us to return to Leon.
